For centuries, mentors have offered valuable advice and wisdom at critical points in a person’s career development. In its simplest form, mentoring is people helping people grow and develop.

Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Mentoring at UCF is designed to foster mentoring connections with seasoned industry leaders and upper-division students from the GEMS program at UCF who are interested in excelling in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Selected participants will commit to a six-month formal mentoring partnership. The partners will meet face-to-face or connect via telephone, e-mail, or other means. We recommend that each partnership plan to spend a minimum of two meetings per month devoted to mentoring activities (including meeting with each other, pursuing networking opportunities, and attending mentoring events).

Mentors and mentees will work together at the onset of the relationship to determine the schedule that best meets their needs. At the end of the mentoring program, the formal support will end and participants will be encouraged to continue their partnerships on an informal basis.
