Academic advising is a critical part of a college student’s experience. Academic Advisors encourage students to make effective independent decisions about their academic journey, while helping them stay on track for graduation and fostering academic success.

Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor at least once each semester. As members of EXCEL, our students have access to multiple advisors:

1. EXCEL Advisor

The EXCEL Advisor works with students primarily during the first year, while they are in their EXCEL math and STEM Seminar courses. The first year of college is a transitional time, as students learn more about themselves and their academic interests. Our EXCEL advisor will assist you in transitioning to college life and navigating UCF’s academic curriculum. While the first year is filled with exciting new experiences, students may face challenges as well. The EXCEL advisor fosters students’ academic success by checking in with them periodically throughout the semester.

2. College Advisors

Within each college, first-year academic advisors are accustomed to supporting students as they navigate new college opportunities and challenges. Advisors can help students explore all options and personalize the academic experience by getting to know your interests and academic goals. These individuals, along with their team of advisors from each college, are specialized advisors in your field of study that will guide you on the path of graduation.
