Taking online courses can be challenging when you are accustomed to face-to-face instruction. We want to make sure you are as successful as possible, so we have put together this resource page to help during this transition.

EXCEL Program Information Fall 2020

EXCEL/COMPASS courses will be offered remote synchronous (V1) in fall 2020.

What does remote synchronous (designated as V1) mean to EXCEL/COMPASS?

To help you maintain some structure, remote synchronous means the class will meet at its scheduled time with live online sessions. You will be able to ask questions, hear your instructor live and then benefit from the recorded material to look at later in case you missed something or need additional explanation. This will look differently in each of our courses as the instructors have different methods of implementation – some will lecture, some will problem solve, some will do group discussions. This definition may not be the same for all of your V1 courses offered this fall, but this is what is planned by EXCEL/COMPASS to help with your success in our courses.

Advising will be offered via Zoom or Phone.  Appointments can be requested by emailing

Tutoring will be provided virtually and we are currently investigating new platforms/ways to enhance this service.
