Ornella Vintimilla is a Biomedical Sciences and Psychology major who chose UCF to help her achieve her goal of becoming a physician. She utilized the Direct Connect program to seamlessly transfer to UCF, ensuring a smooth transition to her academic journey. Ornella joined the EXCEL Program because, as a transfer student, it offered the opportunity to connect with peers who shared similar career aspirations and provided resources to continue her academic and research success. She has earned several accolades, including serving as a GEMS mentor, Secretary and Vice President of Operations at the Latino Medical Student Association Plus, and Secretary of the Community Engagement Director at the Pediatric Association of Caring Knights. Through the EXCEL program, Ornella was able to connect with success offices like the HIP (High Impact Practice) Hub, the Office of Undergraduate Research, and Academic Advancement Programs. Additionally, her involvement in EXCEL led to an internship at the Conductive Education Center of Orlando, where she gained hands-on experience and valuable insights into neurological motor disabilities.
