Alexis Luka is a Biomedical Sciences who graduated in Spring 2020. She has been apart of the EXCEL program since 2016, and she is grateful for all the opportunities EXCEL has offered her throughout her four years at UCF. She worked as an LLC peer mentor last year helping to provide an environment, through events and activities, for students to make useful connections and friendships with their classmates.
She plans to apply to medical school this summer and aspires to become a Neonatologist. She is involved in clubs such as Hearts for the Homeless, Catholic Campus Ministry, and Indian Student Association. She is currently the Medical Information Officer of Hearts for the Homeless. In H4H, members go downtown Orlando to perform blood pressure screenings to help the homeless community become more aware of their health. In the organization, she helps record the blood pressure data and explain to the BP numbers significance according to the American Heart Association’s standard. They also help distribute health care-packages, hygiene products, and clothes to the homeless. Outside of campus she volunteers at multiple organizations such as Shepherd’s Hope, BASE Camp for Children’s Cancer, and Ronald McDonald House.
