My name is Vivian Hernadez and I am a junior majoring in biology at UCF. I graduated from University High School in Orlando, FL. My favorite class has been organic chemistry because it has given me a greater understanding of molecules and reactions happening all around us. I do not have a favorite professor or a least favorite professor. The professors I have had at UCF have all been approachable and willing to provide extra help outside of class. I decided to get involved with the GEMS program to become more familiar with resources and opportunities UCF has to offer for STEM majors. Apart from my studies, I enjoy hiking, painting and volunteering. Words of Advice to GEMS Freshman students: Through GEMS, I have met wonderful women in science who have inspired me to continue my goals and will hopefully inspire the incoming freshmen as well.
