Hello! My name is Tamara Lee and I am a Junior majoring in Biology with a track in Marine and Aquatic Biology. I graduated from Newsome High School in Lithia, Florida in 2016. So far my favorite class in college has been Molecular Cell Biology taught by Dr. Bayer. This class is a rigorous course, but Dr. Bayer made it very enjoyable and I have always been fascinated by how cells works. If you take genetics, molecular cell biology, or embryology you have a good chance of having Dr. Bayer as your professor. She is one of my favorite professors because she takes the time to make sure that you really understand what you are learning. I decided to get involved with GEMS my freshman year because I thought it would be a great way to make friends and I was not wrong. I also realized that it is a great way to get ahead in your field. GEMS offers many ways that you can advance your career and one of my favorite things they help with is networking. GEMS holds many networking events with people of different fields and it is a great way to learn more about your field and many others. I wanted to become a GEMS mentor because my mentor helped me so much my freshman year and I can't wait to help you, so don't be afraid to ask me anything, I am here for you. One piece of advice is that you should enjoy your time at college, these four years will go by fast and if you do not take time to stop and enjoy college life you will regret it.
