My name is Sierra Urbaez! I'm entering my sophomore year at UCF as a Chemistry Major. In 2017, I graduated from Western High School in Davie, Florida. Introduction to Forensic Science was one of my favorite classes I've taken so far. Every week we watched a presentation from someone who worked in a different field of forensic science. It was very eye‐opening. This class was great for someone like me; I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in forensic science, I just wasn't sure which one. My favorite professor is Dr. Candice Bridge, who taught Introduction to Forensic Science. She offered lots of great advice in and outside of class and was a very helpful professor. I decided to become a GEMS mentor because I know how difficult it can be to start college at such a large university. I really appreciated the guidance I received from my mentor, and I'd like to give back by being just as helpful. Throughout the school year, I'm looking forward to lots of bonding between my mentees and I! Whether it be through study groups, general college advice, or hanging out, I hope to ease their transition into college. Aside from studying, I enjoy going to concerts, exploring Orlando, going to Disney, and swimming!
