Hey mentees! I'm Sam, and I'm a sophomore majoring in Environmental Engineering here at UCF, but I'm originally from Parkland, Florida and graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. I'm super excited to be a GEMS mentor this year so I can help guide a few new people through their first year at school here, since my freshman mentor was immensely helpful through this transition. The program also helped me meet plenty of other girls in STEM and even some within my major. In addition to GEMS, I'm involved with a few other organizations at UCF as a member of Engineers Without Borders, Vice President of the Body of Animal Rights Campaign, and a new member of the Student Sustainability Advisory Committee. When I'm not busy doing school‐related work and activities, I'm usually playing guitar, watching The Office, or petting other people's dogs. I'm also really into being outdoors, meeting new people, and experiencing new things. I can't wait to meet everyone and get off to a great start this year!
