My name is Natasha Odom and I am a Forensic Science major on the chemistry track. This will be my second year at UCF. In 2021, I graduated from Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando, Florida. One of my favorite classes at UCF was Intro to Forensic Science with Dr. Bridge. Each week a guest lecturer would speak on their specialty in the field. Hearing from DNA analysts, document examiners, medical examiners and other professionals was an incredible experience. I was surprised by how much they shared with the class, listening to the analysis from the medical examiner was definitely my favorite! My favorite professor so far is Mr. Gardiakos. He was my instructor for ENC1101 and 1102. He makes his class fun and engages with each student which has made me a more confident writer. I would definitely recommend taking his class! I joined GEMS so I could meet other women in my major. It is a great support system for me especially because women are underrepresented and underestimated in STEM. I hope to assist  my mentees in adjusting to college life and reaching their goals! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my twin, painting, traveling, trying new foods and listening to music (Harry Styles is my favorite!!).Words of wisdom for mentees: Take advantage of all that UCF has to offer! There are so many resources available to you on campus so ask for help when you need it. Also, join clubs, be open to making new friends and stay true to yourself!
