Hello! My name is Kayla Bitner and I am a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering. I graduated from Rockledge High School in Rockledge, Florida in 2014. My favorite class taken at UCF was Digital Media. It was a fun elective I chose to take as a break from my STEM classes. The professor was great and always kept the class engaged in group discussions. My favorite teacher at UCF is Dr. Moore. I had him for both Calculus 1 and Calculus 2. He really cares about his students and makes sure they understand the material before he moves on to another topic. He also always takes a break during class and tells his students a funny story. I decided to get involved with excel because I saw it as a great opportunity which would help benefit my future. It allows you to build a support group of peers, mentors and professionals who all are in STEM majors. You get to participate in smaller classes and have access to a wonderful tutoring center. This program really helped me learn more about my major and meet amazing people! In my free time, I love to watch movies, craft, kayak, paddle board, exercise and of course go out to eat! Do extra practice problems in your text book! Take advantage of the EXCEL tutoring lab and don't be afraid of going to your professors office hours!
