Profile
My name is Kati Ward and I am a sophomore, majoring in Forensic Science. I graduated from Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida in 2013. One of my favorite classes at UCF has been Introduction to Forensic Science because the class had guest speakers from many different disciplines of forensic science come and talk about their careers including what they do and what is required of them. It really helped me narrow down what I wanted to do in the future. One of my favorite professors at UCF has been Lori Dunlop‐Pyle because her class Mathematics for Calculus was easy and understandable. I felt like she walked me through it enough that I understood every concept. I decided to get involve in the GEMS program because I wanted to help the new EXCEL females transition into college life, like my mentor helped me. I would love to be able to share my experiences and give my own advice to younger female students in hopes of being just like my mentor. Incoming freshmen should really take advantage of the EXCEL resources and meet other STEM students because they can provide tools to success and support. I know that I truly benefited by using all the resources that I was given. Outside of my classes, I enjoy walking around UCF's beautiful campus, baking, watching movies, and hanging out with friends.
