My name is Jennifer Stout and I am a sophomore, pursuing Mathematics major at UCF. My favorite class was Calculus I and II with Professor Swanson. He is really concerned with each and every student getting the information, not only to pass the class, but to benefit you even more in your future area of study. He was always very eager to try to explain it in different ways and always helped if anyone had questions. I honestly got involved in EXCEL by accident. I came across it on the UCF website and applied, not knowing what to expect. I highly recommend the GEMS program to any girl in EXCEL. It was the highlight of my freshman year. This program introduced me to so many new girls in the EXCEL program whom I grew close with, and also those who are older than me which have been so helpful when I've needed advice. I like to go to the beach, play guitar, play tennis, play volleyball and watch movies. Words of advice for the GEMS freshman students: “”If you ever have questions, don't be afraid to ask. In college, professors may seem intimidating, but in reality, they've been where you are and they can be very helpful and understanding.””
