My name is Gillianne Kattiria. I graduated from Park Vista High School and I am currently a junior at UCF studying mechanical engineering. My favorite classes so far have been Calc III and Philosophy because I enjoy calculus and the professor who taught it was incredibly easy to understand. I wish he taught all my engineering classes. My other favorite professor was my Philosophy professor, Mason Cash. He's funny and insightful, and dressed up as The Joker for Halloween. I became a mentor because GEMS really helped me get acclimated into my first year here at UCF, and I want to be able to do the same for incoming students. There are so many opportunities and resources that EXCEL/COMPASS and GEMS provide and you should definitely take advantage of them as much as you can. Outside of classes and studying, I'm most likely with my dog. Some words of advice: get out of your comfort zone; you will grow more as a person when you do.
