Hi! My name is Emily Ebbrecht and I am an Aerospace Engineering major. This will be my second year at UCF. In 2018, I graduated from Niceville High School which is in Niceville, Florida. Two of my favorite classes at UCF were Calculus II and Calculus III. I really enjoyed these classes because they challenged me and I found it interesting how Calculus connects all of the previous math concepts you learned into one subject. One of my favorite professors at UCF is professor Lori Dunlop-Pyle, who taught my Calculus III class in Spring 2019. She is a great professor who will answer all of your questions and explain the reasoning behind the formulas she teaches. I decided to get involved with them GEMS program because I understand how intimidating freshman year can be, especially being a female in STEM. My expectations this year for GEMS is to create a community with my mentees where they feel comfortable to ask for advice and help guide them to become socially involved. The biggest piece of advice I want to share with you is to manage your time! Creating time to study and do homework is important, however make sure to factor in time for activities and clubs that you enjoy. Becoming involved socially is just as important as academics because that is where you will meet most of your friends, and trust me you will need them! Two things that you should know about me is that I love to run and go to Disney! So if you need advice on school, your social life, or want someone to workout with I am your person!
