Profile

My name is Delta Zable and I am a second year Mechanical Engineering major. In 2022, I graduated from Harmony High School in Harmony, Florida. One of my favorite classes at UCF was History of Motion Pictures. As a general education class, it was a nice break from my STEM courses. We had to watch episodes about the film industry in countries all over the world. One of my favorite professors at UCF is Professor Pyle, who taught Calculus II. I liked how structured the course was, I knew what to expect. She gave lots of practice questions, without skipping any steps and the tests were straightforward. I decided to get involved with the GEMS program because I want to help incoming freshman get comfortable with the transition to college. This transition can be stressful, being in a new environment with people you don’t know. I definitely felt this way the first week of school so I want to help others not feel that way. Having a mentor helped me get comfortable with campus life and knowing I could go to her for anything was great. My expectation for myself is that I will give honest advice to my mentees and I expect my mentees to come in with an open mind. My advice for incoming freshman is to take breaks, you don’t have to be working all the time. Outside my academic life, I like to read, listen to music, watch movies and art, especially origami.
