Profile

My name is Darnelle Ramirez and I am a senior Molecular Biology and Microbiology major. I graduated from Faith Christian Academy. My favorite class at UCF is Human Anatomy with Dr. Samsam because he is a brilliant professor who truly cares about his students. Although it was a challenging class, he made it interesting and I was able to learn much. I decided to get involved in the GEMS program because I believe it provides great opportunities to girls majoring in STEM and because I wish I had this kind of guidance as a freshman. There is a vast amount of information I had not known as a freshman and I would like to provide the insight I have now to my mentees. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, running, making food, and going to the beach. Words of advice for the GEMS freshman students: “” STEM majors may be tough but they are incredibly rewarding. “”
