Profile

Hello! My name is Christina Houser and I am a Biomedical Sciences major and Social and Diversity Inequalities minor. This will be my second year here at UCF. I am from Glen Mills, Pennsylvania and graduated from Garnet Valley High School in 2017. So far, my favorite class at UCF has been Humanistic Traditions I because provided me with knowledge and interesting information outside of the STEM field. Humanistic Traditions (HUM 2020) is also one of those general education courses that is needed, but it is intriguing as well. One of my favorite professors here is Professor Dees, who teachings English composition I & II. He really made writing more interesting and fun and cared about our ideas about composition. As a STEM major, I do not usually have much interest in English course, however he made this one great. I decided to get involved in this program because I wanted to meet more people that had similar interests as me and could relate to the work that I would be doing as an undergraduate student majoring in biomedical sciences. In addition to this, I knew that it would just help me meet more people in general and I needed this because I am an out of state student and came here knowing no one. GEMS and EXCEL really helped me meet a lot of people which allowed my first year to go smoother. Lastly, there are a lot of things that I do in my free time however my favorite thing to do is cook. I love created my own recipes as well as following others! Besides this, I also like to watch Netflix, go to the gym, and hang out with friends. Words of advice for EXCEL freshmen: You can succeed if you put your mind to it! Do not let anything stop you from reaching your goals.
