Profile

My name is Chelsey Ameda and I am a junior with a Biomedical Sciences major and a minor in Medical Sociology. I graduated from School for Advanced Studies – North campus in 2017. One of my favorite classes so far was Mental Health in Society. This class is part of my sociology minor and really highlights the stigma of mental health, which most college students deal with. I decided to get involved with GEMS in 2018 because I love how my mentor aided me in my first year of college. She was real and raw and a demonstration of how failure and success can both be eminent in your life. This will be my second year as a GEMS mentor and I am willing to do whatever I can to help my mentees in any way that they need me. I want to be myself and show my mentees how hard yet enjoyable UCF can be for a woman in STEM. When I’m not studying or doing work, I like to watch tv shows, try new restaurants, read a book, and relax.
