My name is Bailey Glidden, and I am a Civil Engineering major.  This will be my second year at UCF. In 2020, I graduated from Fleming Island High School near Jacksonville. My favorite classes so far at UCF are my engineering lab or my survey of rock class. I love my lab because I love learning how to build things even if it is virtually. Learning about rock music helped to appreciate my own music even more and I was able to learn about some cool songs I did not know existed. My favorite professor is Chris Botelho. He made us call him Chris during our EXCEL College Algebra class, but he also teaches Calculus 2. He was able to explain the different processes in which to solve math to where I was always able to understand it, and he cared about all his students’ wellbeing. I joined this mentorship program because I loved my mentor my first year at college and being a part of the EXCEL program. I wanted to be able to help others the way my mentor was able to help me. The key to surviving college is to make as many friends as possible but have those friends be good, close friends as they will be your main support group. I love hanging out with my friends, but I am also a huge Disney and book nerd, and I love to run.
