Profile

My name is Ashritha Koreboina, and I am currently a Data Science major at UCF,
entering my sophomore year. I graduated from Suncoast High School. One of the
classes I enjoyed most at UCF was Intro to C. The collaborative atmosphere, where older students and TAs readily offered assistance, made learning enjoyable and accessible, especially as a freshman navigating university life. One of my favorite professors at UCF is Tanvir Ahmed. Despite the challenges of teaching complex computer science concepts, he has a knack for making the material understandable, even though his exams can be tough. His dedication to his student’s learning and his ability to clarify difficult topics have left a lasting impression on me. I decided to get involved with the EXCEL program because I recognize the importance of building a supportive community, particularly for women in STEM fields like Data Science. My expectations from the program are not only to receive guidance and encouragement but also to contribute to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels empowered to excel.

To incoming freshmen in EXCEL/COMPASS/CECS, I would advise embracing every opportunity to learn and grow, even when faced with challenges. Remember to prioritize your well-being and seek support when needed. Away from
school, I enjoy indulging in my social life by reading books, binge-watching shows, and staying active through exercise. Traveling during breaks is a passion of mine, as it allows me to explore new places, hike, and try out exciting adventures. These experiences enrich my life and provide a balance to my academic pursuits
