Hello! My name is Aimé Yelvington (pronounced Uh-may) and this will be my second year at UCF. I graduated from Bartram Trail High School in 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida. I am currently an Information Technology major. This will be my first year as a GEMS mentor and I am very excited! On campus, I am a UCF Marching Knight where I play clarinet. This will be my ninth year playing the clarinet. I was really hesitant about joining the Marching Knights because I was worried that I wouldn’t have enough time to study and that I also wouldn’t be a good enough musician. I still ended up joining, despite my reservations, and it has been the best decision I have made in college so far. Being a part of a group that is there to support you really helps with the adjustment process that comes with college. I am hoping to provide similar support to my mentees that was given to me the first few weeks of school. I am also a member of an international community service club called GIVE. When I am not studying or practicing my clarinet, I like to read, bake, and travel.
