Sarah Evans

Undergraduate Coordinator, Center for Initiatives in STEM College of Engineering and Computer Sciences College of Sciences

Sarah works to develop and organize activities that support and enhance the educational and research efforts related to STEM undergraduate and graduate programs at UCF. After graduating from Rollins College with her BA in physics, Sarah became a high school AP Physics teacher in Seminole County. During her 10 years as a teacher, Sarah was instrumental in building the physics department at Hagerty High School. In 2013, she earned her Masters of Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida. Having conducted and published research in the fields of musical acoustics and optics, Sarah has spent many summers mentoring undergraduate students in physics research. Inspired by these research efforts, Sarah also developed and taught an “Experimental Research” course at the high school level. This course taught students to conduct scientific research and to communicate their work with peers and mentors both in the classroom and at science fairs at the regional, state, and international levels. Sarah is excited to transition her expertise in scientific research and teaching to the EXCEL and COMPASS programs at UCF!
