EXCEL is a smaller learning community which strives to increase the number of students receiving baccalaureate degrees in STEM disciplines from UCF. EXCEL does this by enhancing the student experience during the transition to university life. Through improved student learning in cohort math, science and discipline specific courses, block housing shared by STEM-focused students (FTIC only), a tutoring center and early engagement in research and other high impact practices. EXCEL increases the likelihood of graduation in a student’s chosen STEM discipline. EXCEL participants work in cohorts, making it easy for them to team up with study partners in required courses that may have several hundred students. EXCEL is a community of learners here to support one another in their academic journey.
