Computer Vision
Deadline: March 15, 2010
Dates: May 13- August 13
Description: REU students will pursue research in making computers "see".  Possible topics will include 3D reconstruction from images, enhancing photographs, and recognizing actions, objects or people.
Compensation: $5400 plus housing and meal subsidy

Domestic Research Experiences in Lasers & Optics
Deadline: February 19, 2010
Dates: May 17 - August 6
Description: Participants will carry out directed research under the guidance of assigned faculty members and associated graduate students.  The program includes industrial visits to local companies, short courses in optics and lasers, a course in ethics, and ends with a poster session where participants present their work to UCF faculty and students.
Compensation: $5,100 plus housing allowance

Opportunity for Students Interested in Conducting Research at the National Institute of Health (NIH)

Just wanted to remind you that the NIH Summer Internship Program deadline is March 1, 2010!!
 
With just over one month left, you still have time to submit your application!!

Important TIPS for completing the application:
1.      Please utilize the institution’s writing centers, faculty, and staff to make sure that your personal statement is strong, clear, and focused! 
2.      Request letters of reference EARLY! Please make sure to use people who can speak about your potential as a researcher (e.g. professor, academic advisor, post-doc, etc.)
3.      SUBMIT the application ASAP.  Researchers are looking at the submitted applications all the time, and the earlier you submit, the more eyes will see your application!!
4.      Go to www.nih.gov ( http://www.nih.gov/ ) or http://intramural.nih.gov/search/index.tml to lookat areas of research that you are interested in and contact several of those researchers.
