Applications of Calculus II Class Spring 08

Objectives

One of the goals of the EXCEL program is to enhance understanding of Mathematics (primarily Calculus) for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students. Mathematics is considered the cornerstone of success of any student pursuing a degree in a STEM discipline. One way of achieving this goal at UCF is by introducing students to the Applications of Calculus classes. This book is your Applications of Calculus II book that you will be taking in your freshman studies at UCF. It is comprised of a series of chapters written by EXCEL faculty from various disciplines of the sciences, engineering and Mathematics. These chapters and the presentations that the individual EXCEL faculty members will make in the Applications of Calculus II class will show you how the material that you will be learning in your Calculus II class is actually used in the discipline of the presenter. These presentations are correlated with your calculus book and will be presented just shortly after you cover those sections in your Calculus II class.
